douirc
I used the iATKOS 7i disc. Had problems with kernel panic, took the 1390 wifi card out and kernel panic went away with just -v option at dvd-rom boot. Installed with the following options: Drivers -> VGA -> nVidia -> Enablers -> Natit Drivers -> System -> SATA -> AHCI Drivers -> System -> Intel Speedstep -> Speedstep Driver Drivers -> System -> Cardbus Driver Drivers -> System -> PS/2 M/K -> Apple PS/2 driver Drivers -> System -> Laptop Battery Drivers -> Network -> Wired -> Broadcom -> Broadcom BCM5751 Drivers -> Network -> Wireless -> Broadcom BCM 43xx Everything else was left default. After reboot, I shut the system down, installed the wifi 1390 card and rebooted. Mac OS X initial screen came up with sound and correct resolution. Airport was working immediately and connected to my network. I ran the OS updates and everything is working like a champ. Problems: From what I can tell I only have two. The first is shutdown/reboot. Not sure if there's a kext or something I can install to fix the problem. It's weird that the installer can reboot the machine no problem but after install I have to hold down the power button for 5 seconds to get the machine to shutdown. The second problem (and not sure if it's really a problem) is the performance of the video card. Perhaps I just need to install the latest kext to correct the speed, or perhaps the video card is just that slow, but in Windows it seems so much more responsive, so I'm guessing it's a driver issue. Anyway, if someone has suggestions on how to fix shutdown/reboot and improve the video performance I'd appreciate the help. azanoncello
Have you tried OHR? I got this from the iAtkos readme. OHR: This driver, originally developed by Psystar, helps on desktop system that have no restart/shutdown capability, try it if you have this issue. ximmortal
Just wanted to say thanks for making this post. I have the same setup D830, but I have the Intel 3945ABG (waiting on iwidarwin to start working). I did have a slightly different outcome than you. 1. The BCM5751 installed from iAtkos didn't work. I removed and installed the BCM5755M.zip from this forum and wired is working. 2. The NVS 140m is working great for me, though I do miss dual display support. 3. Same issues with reboot and poweroff, sleep does seem to work. For those wanting to try this and are getting ACPI kernel panics, just keep trying, eventually you will get a successful boot that will lead to a successful install. I succeeded with just the -v option after 13 reboots. azanoncello
I only had to add these boot flags and then it would boot. toh -x -f -v I used similar settings to above to install. douirc
very cool. Found this link http://store.psystar.com/opensource/openhaltrestart I'll try this when I get home! I tried the kext from the link and no luck. can you confirm it working on your machine and confirm the kext you used? i'd love to get the shutdown/reboot to work properly. azanoncello
It doesn't work for me either. I actually get a crash now. I think its maybe from all the updates I did (Apple Updates).
