hey all

having some problems with not been able to change screen resolution after installing the new iatkos 10.5.7

first of all comp specs

MB: gigabyte EX58-UD4P

VC: ati 3870 x2

CPU: i7 920

Ram: Gskill 12gb

Hd: WD raptor 150gb (partitioned to run Win7 and Leopard)

first of all could not get the disk to install...checked on the forums and someone suggested using busratio=20 which worked and managed to install 10.5.7

installed chameleon 2

ati drives

voodoo kernel 9.7.0

and ethernet drivers

first install apple logo came up and then it wouldn't start

another forum search suggested installing sata drivers

reinstalled with intel sata drivers and chose leopard from chameleon and all started up well

have internet sound etc.

only thing i cant do is change screen resolution.

downloaded some drivers from the forum that were suggested, went through the installation process but no luck still cant change resolution.

one other problem decided to do a software update...went through the process and then restarted and kept restarting.

any help would be greatly appretiated

thank you

A quick update

after spending the last few days installing kexts and drivers found here and other site, installing other distros over and over finally managed to get the card to work somehow

for any one interested here's what i did

1. installed windows 7 on one partition

2. installed iatkos 10.5.7 (without video drivers)

3. inserted ideneb v1.5 10.5.7 and installed the ATI 3870x2 drivers on the disc

3. restarted teh comp

wasn't sure it will work, the apple logo came up with the spinning wheel, then a blue screen.

it hung on the blue screen for a few seconds then went black and the desktop loaded at full resolution 1980x1200 on a dell 27".

everything else was still working sound internet.

did a software update to 10.5.8 and what ever else was there

on restart apple logo loads and then the computer restarted again (was thinking same problem as earlier)

on the second restart everything went smoothly and a beautiful desktop loaded.

tried restart and shut down and it hung on the background screen.

put the ideneb disc back in and installed power off fix as well as mouse lag fix.

so far so good installed a few apps and are working fine

some apps don't work as they need QE which i cant get to work

aperture wont load says video card doesnt support QE

adobe bridge crashes before it loads (photoshop works)

Iwork installed but i cant seem to use anything in it...blank screen loads and program crashes

if anyone knows how to get QE to work would appretiate it

on a side note did try a few installations with ideneb only but after a successful installation the computer would hang on the gray apple logo with no spinning wheel...even left it on over night.

any way hope it helps some one.

Hello, I run an asus p5k deluxe wifi ap with a sapphire ati radeon hd 3870 x2

This is wonderful. It's the only user guide i have found for the 3870x2 that may actually work. my only problem is that i can't find this "ATI Radeon HD.pkg" anywhere!

I've downloaded iAtkos s3 v2 and it installed flawlessly except for the video card, it gives me 1024x768 cloned on both my dvi outputs.

i went onto the irc channel and people there are telling me that 3870x2 is just not compatible with snow leopard at the moment. that sucks.

so then i decided to research getting 10.5.8 running on my mobo so i could get my video card to work like the person i quoted had done.

so far, not so good. On all the distros i've downloaded, i can't find this elusive ATI Radeon HD.PKG.

can anyone point show me the steps i need to take? Please?
