Hi this is my first post.

So I recently built my own computer with these specs

Mobo: Intel DP35DP

Proc: Intel C2D E8400 (3.0 GHz)

Ram: Kingston 4 GB 800 mhz

Video: nVidia GeForce 9400 GT (1 GB)

HD: Seagate Barracuda 500 GB SATA

I have tried these three osx86 distributions with the following errors:

Kalyway 10.5.1: still waiting for root device (after a firewire error)

iDeneb 1.3: com.apple.slist not found

iAtkos v7 (10.5.7): still waiting for root device

I have tried bios options of configure as IDE and AHCI but to no avail.

Any info and help is greatly appreciated!

That's pretty similar to my setup. My preferred installation method is actually the Retail distribution with the boot132 bootloader to start the installation and the Chameleon EFI loader as a permanent solution.

The still waiting for root device used to hold me up... turns out I was getting it because my DVD-ROM was using the PATA interface which OSX can't see/doesn't support. The PATA interface isn't handled by an Intel controller but is actually handled by a Jmicron chip. You'll need to confirm you're using a SATA DVD-ROM or a USB DVD-ROM as a PATA drive is a no go for this setup.

Once you get your setup installed you'll need to hunt for the correct kexts for the audio and network. If I remember correctly they're on this site somewhere and do not work by default with a retail install and possibly won't work after using a hacked distro... but they do work with the right kexts.

Once everything is set up the DP35DP is actually a great board for hackintoshing as only the PATA doesn't work (and I'm sure if you have more patience or reason to than I do you can get it going).

Thanks for the response. I was following a guide and had the neccesary drivers on hand.

I believe I may be using a PATA drive. I'll have to check on it (I think it's this one: http://www.frys.com/product/5851203?site=s...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG)

Could you show me which boot132 I should use for this motherboard?

And about the retail distro: can I use macbook DVD's (2-DVD set)?

Thanks for your help,

Dartox.

I think you need to use an actual retail distro, but I could be mistaken. I use a retail 10.5.6 that I bought not too long ago from the local Apple store. As for the boot132 CD I think there is a specific ISO that I found on this site; if not google "dp35dp boot132 iso" and you should eventually find what you need.

If you've got a hacked distro and you want to use that it should work... assuming you aren't using an IDE DVD-ROM.

edit: Just noticed you are using a SATA DVD-ROM. Can you confirm it's set as AHCI in the BIOS? Make perhaps a BIOS update is in order too? I'm running the latest BIOS for this board and it takes to OS X just fine.

I checked my drive with a device manager application and it is indeed PATA. Does this have to do with the drive itself or can it be reconfigured as SATA with a different connector?

Also I am looking into this: iPortable Leopard - Boot from USB

Do you think it will work on this mobo?

Thanks,

Dartox

Unfortunately the only thing I know for sure works on this motherboard is the Leopard retail version (10.5.6 which I updated to 10.5.8), since that is what I use. As for reconfiguring your drive you will need an IDE to SATA adapter. That is actually how I have mine set up; I have a PATA DVD-RW but it's got a PATA to SATA adapter and it's hooked to the motherboard's SATA port and the motherboard has AHCI enabled in the BIOS. With the adapter it works just fine.

Thanks, I'll look into the adapter.
