Shirtzup Posted May 20, 2006 Share Posted May 20, 2006 I've tried a fresh installation on my Toshiba Tecra 8100 (I know it's old but it's my test laptop) and keep getting ebios read error : Controller or device error about 7 times before the laptop reboots and does the same thing again. Now on my Compaq Presario V2000, I have a dual boot of XP and Linux Ubuntu using the Grub boot manager. I get as far as the screen asking what language I'd like to use, but at that point, my touchpad and keyboard are frozen. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did they resolve it? It has a AMD Turion processor and gets all the way to the screen where I can choose my language before it locks up. Has anyone installed OS X on a laptop with a Turion processor? Shirtzup Posted May 25, 2006 Author Share Posted May 25, 2006 I just did a little more research and found that my V2000 does have SSE2 and SSE3 support but it could be my ATI Radeon 200M video card that is killing my efforts. Can anyone confirm this? PoMan Posted May 25, 2006 Share Posted May 25, 2006 I have a V5000 (Same basic HW) and I am usinf Jas 10.4.6. I also get a VGA error. I think someone is working on the xpress200 video card...but I cant find anything. Anyone else have any luck?
