Post-install Combo Checklist: System Preferences tuning, drivers

This is a note of all the pb solving tips and trick I found in this forum and that I found useful for me after each leopard update I made:

 

REBOOT Problem after upgrade:

Try Boot with the Ignore Cache option (with latest Chameleon 2 RC2)

 

DRIVERS

========

- Gygabyte EP45-DS3L (and many other MBs with ALC888 chipset) :

Check Audio Driver and eventually (re-)install ALC888 audio drivers

 

SYSTEM PREFERENCES TUNING:

=============================

- CD/DVD ROM not responding after Sleep:

In System Preferences/Energy Saver:

Turn OFF the option "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible"

 

- Shutdown/Restart/Sleep Mode related problems :

Turn on "Restart automatically after a power failure" in Energy Saver

 

- Network problem after Sleep mode:

In System Preferences/Network , switch from automatic DHCP mode to Manual mode and set manually all the fields

Works very well for me, using an EP45-DS3L with iDeneb OSX 10.5.5 successively updated to 10.5.[6,7,8]
