hello :)

just installed iatkos and everything's working fine . Usb , wireless , all are ok except screen resolution . During my first -failed- installation attempt i selected <intel gma 950 laptop driver > and only part of the screen was visible/working and i also had lots of blank screens .

The second succesful attempt was with < gma 950 rare >and <intel gma efi > selected. However ,my res is locked in sys preferences in 1024x768 . I searched for a while and found some workarounds that did not work for me : 1) during F8 boot tried typing : "Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32" , also tried the same without " " and a third try with * instead of x . No success

2) tried to edit com.apple.Boot.plist . Here i found 2 or 3 different suggestions concerning where to put the line "Graphics Mode" = "1280x1024x32"

I also found out that driver files in mac os are called .kext ,found their folder , installed an utility called 'kext helper' . Would it be of benefit to try updating those files ? Also Can anyone confirm if i write the line "Graphics Mode" = "1280x1024x32" right ? Is it with " " and x ?

Any other possible suggestion/ thread ? Should i provide more informations ? Thanks in advance :)

well, problem solved :hbd:

what worked for me was installing/replacing 2 kext files in system / library / extensions folder :

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext and AppleIntelGMA950.kext

I found the correct version of those in a package called " JaS.10.4.8.GMA.950.Support.pkg " .Use 'show package contents' to browse these two files & save them on desktop .

Then install them using a little programm called kext helper . I suggest copying the original files somewhere safe just in case it doesn't work

Just to share my own experience, as I had a similar problem. I have a Compaq Presario C500.

First time I installed iAtkos 7, I did not select any drivers. I couldn't see squat. Next time I installed it, however, I selected the GMA950 driver for Laptops. Looked good but did some really crazy stuff every so often. It wasn't manageable. So, the third time I selected GMA950 Laptop but also the EFI and GMA950 Rare options. Now I was locked into the 1024 resolution.

I searched for the JaS.10.4.8.GMA.950.Support.pkg and found it on Rapidshare. Exploring the package, I did NOT find an AppleIntelGMA950.kext, but only the AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext. I used Kext Helper Beta 7 to install this, and attempted reboot. It said something about updating boot caches but seemed to freeze. I restarted manually, and everything seemed to work.

Unfortunately, I could not view videos. It so happened that QE was disabled. In order to fix this, I downloaded the six files in the following thread, and installed them all with Kext Helper. I also overrided the aforementioned AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext with the one from the following attachment:

Now, it seems like I am A-OK.
