JohnOSX
Hi there, I've been going through countless threads on how to fix this, but can't seem to figure it out. I'm using a Dell Dimension 4600 and iDeneb 10.5.6. Initially, when I plugged my monitor into the computer's onboard Intel integrated graphics vga slot, ideneb came up in illegible grayscale. I changed the video buffer in my BIOS from 1mb to 8mb. Still, no luck. Today I went out and got a GeForce 5200 AGP card (I have found several threads with success stories with this card). After I plugged that in, I was able to go through iDeneb, format my disk, and customize my installation. I used all the standard 4600 kexts, and the 128mb NVinject driver. Installation goes great, and displays the success checkmark. On the first bootup, though, the computer freezes at the gray screen with the Apple logo and spinning insignia. The spinner stops spinning, and it does nothing. I have tried booting in safe mode, "platform=OSX86PC|ACPI -x", but still no luck. When I take off the Geforce 5200 and try to bootup on the integrated VGA slot, I can see the "Welcome" screen, but it is again in illegible grayscale. I checked the BIOS again (for 8mb video buffer), but still no luck. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated. It seems like everything is working fine on the backend, I'm just unable to view the GUI. Thanks. JohnOSX
Update... Got my hands on 10.5.5 ideneb disc and it worked flawlessly. Updated to voodoo kernel after install. Followed this page... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1032659 It's almost as though the 4600 was made to be a hackintosh. Ethernet, audio, graphics, and even my PCI firewire card are all recognized and working.
