I recently purchased the Tranquill BBS to use as a NAS server at home. I tried using Linux and OpenBSD, but I'm really not friends with these *nix variations.

I have worked alot with Mac OS X Server at work and use a Macbook on day to day things at home, and wanted to try installing Mac OS X on the server.

I installed iDeneb a while ago and have experimenting with different installations back and forth. But I keep getting confused about the kexts.

I have partitioned the drive into a couple of different HFS+ partitions. Installed iDeneb on one of them, and installed Chameleion 2-rc2 on the drive. The iDeneb installation boots fine without any further modifications, so the right kexts have been chosen for this installation.

I ran the installer for Mac OS X 10.5 Server and updated it to 10.5.6, and ofcourse this doesn't boot.

So my questions are:

How do I identify the correct kexts that I need to install?

How do I configure Chameleon to load these kexts and patch the system, so I can boot it?

The hardware configuration is:

Intel Atom 330, 1.6GHz

Intel 945GC chipset (The boot drive is connected to this)

Silicon Image SIL3124 sata controller

I believe that the NIC controller is part of the intel chipset as well, that is the information I have on hand here.

I need to boot the system, have display (no heavy graphics) and network access. I would love to be able to use screenshare.app to control the server, but it is not a must.

I am familiar with Terminal work and Mac OS structure, but I have problems reading and structure the many toturials and guides on the internet, hence I can't get any further on this project :D

I hope you can help me.

Thank you :)

Peter
