Hello

I am new to the OSX86 scene but i would love to become an active member of it :D

Here is my hardware

Motherboard: Gigabyte MA770-UD3 (Chipset AMD SB700, AMD K10)

RAM: 4GB Kingston 1066 DDR2

CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition

GPU: EVGA nVidia GeForce GTS 250 1GB DDR3

HDD: SATA WD 1GB ( i also have some extra IDE HDDs that i could use if needed but i read SATA set for AHCI is best)

CD: IDE ASUS DRW-1608P2 drive (no SATA drive, is it possible to install w/o SATA drive?)

If you need anything else just ask

I have tried to install iPC and iDaneb 1.4 but on both i get stuck at Still waiting for root device. OnChip SATA type is set to AHCI, I also have an XP partition on the HDD but i have left 500GB unallocated.

I have read through the board and searched but haven't found any solution to my problem.

Any help will be appreciated as to what distribution i should use or the settings.

Thanks in advance

Do i need to modify the iso in some way to get it to work on my system ? I have read that i need a SATA disk drive but i thought that is only to be able to use it after the installation, i cant even get to the installation.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I get the installation to start on my other older custom build PC's but i cant get it to work on my newest/fastest one( the one i have been trying to get it on all this time). Plus the other ones are not really mine anymore but i thought id give it a try anyways and it works. They are all AMD and neither one of them has a SATA DVD Drive and they load up the installer just fine.

Anyone have a clue ?

Im beginning to feel bad about bumping this again but i would really appreciate your help.

I got it to successfully install iPC on an old HP Pavillion 533w that has been sitting around for a while but its really slow as its only a 2Ghz Celeron processor :/ I need to be able to install it on

my main machine:

Anyone have an idea on how i can get the installer to start ?

Why dont you try installing iATKOS v7 ?

Its been great in both my AMDs !

Other solution would be trying the iDeneb DVD and then applying the iDeneb 10.5.7 combo update.

in any case, you can always test different boot flags (like: -x -f idlehalt=0 cpus=1 platform=X86PC) to get the DVD to boot all the way.

Good luck !

The problem is your southbridge, you need a driver for it. I'm not going to do it for you, that's your job :) But I will tell you that boot-132 would be your best choice for installation. Remember, Google is your friend.

I looked in the HCL 10.5.6 and GA-MA770-US3 which is VERY similar to mine is on the list and there are not any instructions about adding additional drivers. SB700 is in the 10.5.6 list

I did find SB700 kexts, but every guide i find is for OS X ( i'm on windows )

Appreciate your input, any other suggestions ?

Well tried to put the SB drivers into a iDeneb DVD but it failed miserably.. oh well i was like what the heck let me just reboot n try my iAtkos DVD 1 more time and it WORKED! so now im typing this from my 1st Hackintosh! Still trying to fix the sound and other things, but im sure i'll find my way around it!
