Hi.. that's curious. Are you sure KextHelper was the culprit? I use KextHelper, even on Snow Leo (not so much these days) and never had that problem.

But, i was helping someone one these days and he had that problem whit kexts showing as folders.. and i'm sure he used KextHelper.

The thing is, i can't begin to imagine how can KextHelper possibly do such a thing?? All it does is use commands that one can type in Terminal.. simple stuff, nothing fancy (that's why i like it but, i'm crossing over to Terminal to avoid this kind of stuff.)

Anyway, don't worry about that.. kexts are just folders, only Finder shows them as files.

Glad i read you post cause, i was forgetting to find a fix for it.. i'm sure it's out there :D

and please leave some feedback.

Well, as i said, i really doubt that was caused by KextHelper.

About the icons, all .kext, .bundle and .plugin share the same plain white icon! But, some apps like Microsoft Powerpoint change the icon associated to .bundle and .plugin files.

It can be annoying but, as long as the file extension stays the same, the system will handle the files properly

Sometimes these problems come from wrong permissions or corrupted caches.
