I tried installing OSX.4.6 yesterday and this morning using 3 different harddrives, but none of them are recognized. I tried using Boot Commander to repartition to FAT32, DARWIN and even Linux, but nothing. I also tried putting both DVD-ROM and HDD on the same IDE (the first one) and it still doesn't work. I get to the boot screen where it asks me what language, then asks me if I comply with the rules then it comes up with a dialog that asks me to select where I want OSX installed. The area where my HDD should be shown is empty. Anyone have any advice? I'm probably missing something real easy or it just may be that my mobo isn't supported (which I thought I read that it was).

Hi Pixelmonk,

If you want more than one partition in your disk, you need to create a primary partition (FreeBSD type) then boot off the DVD, get to the stage you already reached then launch the Disk Utility to format the FreeBSD partition in HFS+ journaled. After that and only if you achieve this step, you will find you new formatted partition in the "area where your HDD should be shown", as you said.

If you want to use your entire disk for OSX, then you need to erase all partitions before launching the OSX install process and use Disk Utility to create one or more partitions.

Yeah I'm using a dedicated disk for this. How do I launch the disk utility from that screen I get stuck at?

Thanks for your help.. I'll be stoked if I can get this working!

Look in the menus at the top of the desktop.

ahh that's my problem. I'm running the install via a DVI cableout to my HDTV. I can almost guarantee it cut the top of the desktop off. I'll hook up an LCD for the install. Thanks again!
