Jason Y.
I have a laptop (a Sony VAIO PCG-TR5EB) that I have successfully installed Mac OS x86 (version 10.4.6) on. The problem is that when I boot into Mac OS, the internal keyboard and touchpad stop working. I have to plug in a USB mouse and keyboard to use it properly. Could anyone tell me if the same has happened to their laptop installations (and fixes, if possible)? Sorry, I am new to this forum. If this is the wrong place to ask hardware questions, then please move it. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17730-laptop-problems/ Share on other sites
Technobob
Do a search for ApplePS2Controller.kext you will find the answer. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17730-laptop-problems/#findComment-114814 Share on other sites
mgleason007
Do a search for ApplePS2Controller.kext you will find the answer. I've been searching these forms for a month or so and have not found the answer. Every "hacked" ApplePS2Controller.kext I've found does not fix the problem. Jason Y.
It's only fixed my keyboard, after trying everything (unloading and reloading the kext was the only thing that did anything), I still have to use a USB mouse to navigate. It's a bit painful for me, because I was telling my friends that they could try the Mac OS before they bought it, and they fell laughing when the trackpad didn't work. Now they think that they'd rather stick with windows because "who knows, the apple drivers for boot camp might fail the same way, and then what am I going to do about all my windows stuff?" (Hey, there's hardly any logic in that, but it's their first taste of the mac experience... and it sucked. Could any other VAIO owners with this problem post what worked for them (apart from unloading/reloading the kext)? psikadelik
We need to work on this together, because on our own it appears that it will be difficult to figure out. Have you tried the hacked ps2trackpad option? Have you tried the older ps2trackpad.kext file from 10.4.3? I've tried modifying and attempting to load the current ps2trackpad files without success. I'm going to keep trying though because 1. i have plenty of time and 2. i want to get this to work #%#@^%.. because I have just about everything else working except the ALPS touchpad/trackpad and wireless.
