I am having trouble with being able to see the full screen in Garage Band (09) when I start a new project. The bottom of the screen has more options that are not available to me unless I attach an external monitor.

Any one have a solution? Hopefully a solution that a non-Guru can understand :thumbsup_anim:

Thanks for any help.

Hey John, first off I want to say thanks to you for helping me get hackintosh working on my own Asus 1005HA (I used your guides from other parts of these kinds of forums). I experienced the same problem as you with Garageband '09 and other applications on the small 1024x600 resolution, and I have found something that helps, but it doesn't fix it completely because it can kind of getting annoying after a while. What I do is use a program made for macs called Zooom/2 (it does cost money, but you can at least download a demo to see if you like it or not). You can find it at:

http://coderage-software.com/zooom/

and it features an option to allow you to move windows in mac by simply pressing a button on the keyboard so all you have to do while you're using garageband is press that button, then use the mouse to move the active window (garageband) and you can move it up beyond the apple bar at the top (the top portion of garageband will go offscreen, but once you have the things you need selected from the bottom you can just press that button on the keyboard again and drag it back down). The main problem with this method is that it only works with some applications because only a few will let you drag the window up offscreen at the top past the apple topbar. Like I said it's not really a solution, but it does work. Let me know if you find any other solutions or have any questions.

P.S> Did you ever manage to get the wireless or ethernet working on your hackintosh 1005ha, or do you know if anyone is working on a driver for those? I've been looking forever and I can't seem to find a solution. I hope someone figures something out.

Hi Gfirefox and Sosh99,

First, I apologize for my long delay in responding. It was rude.

Thanks Gfirefox I will try that program. I use an external wireless. Do a search and you can find them from 20 to 50 or more. That was my solution since I have no interest in taking the computer apart.

Sash99, if you still want help, email me at chimneycheck@gmail.com. I will respond but you can also search, "how to install OSX on an asus eee 1000he to get the basic instructions from Small Computing. I added to it by deleting all three of the partitions (except the XP operating system one) and then creating a new fat 32 partition for OSX.

That (and some time) should get you going but feel free to email me.

My only issues with the computer is I cant get any of the mouse features to work (other than moving the mouse and using the right and left click, I can get pinch or tapping to work. Maybe I just need a Kext for it?

Best,

JLB

Old thread... but found this semi-fix on the screen issues:

Fix Screen Size on Some Apps:

1. Some apps are too big to display on the screen so they get cut off...

2. Run terminal

3. Type in "defaults write -g AppleDisplayScaleFactor 0.8" without quotes. This will shrink every app you open next.

4. Type in "defaults write -g AppleDisplayScaleFactor 1.0" without quotes when your ready to go back to normal, and always do this before you shutdown or else it will look really weird next time you power up.

5. If your lazy, make an automator app for both of them and just stick them on your desktop for easy reach.

While it does work in other programs - like trying to close the "Welcome to iMovie" screen (yeesh!), this virtual resize trick doesn't work with Garageband '09.

I also tried Afloat and it doesn't work with Garageband '09.

The only thing that worked for me was Zooom. Worked very well.
