Jon11a
Hi all, Long time reader of the boards, first time I've posted! Have found the boards to be a fantastic resource so far and have been happily using Leopard on my desktop and netbook for a while now. Thanks to all who make this possible! On to my problem... I recently wiped my desktop PC which was running a kalyway 10.5.2 build and set it up using iPC OSx86 10_5_6 Universal PPF5 Final build. Everything seemed to be running perfectly, except that is for my bluetooth dongle. I managed to get it working at first but then noticed it would disappear after my PC was powered off and then rebooted. The only reliable way I have found to get it back is to follow these steps: 1. Boot using -x flag into Safe Mode 2. Log in using USB Keyboard (bluetooth still not present) 3. Reboot - Notice here that Leopard waits to 'Update Boot Caches' 4. After reboot (not into safe mode this time) Bluetooth is back and my Bluetooth keyboard is still paired. (Hurrah!) Bluetooth will remain working even when I select restart and the hackintosh restarts. However, if I Shut Down the hackintosh and then reboot, I lose bluetooth again. One other thing to mention is I notice that after I follow the steps above, I get Firewall alerts again (would you like to allow iTunes to accept incoming connections?) I switched this on in system preferences but have already agreed to it. The safe mode boot seems to reset this. Can anyone tell me what is happening to my Bluetooth when I power things down? And why a boot into safe mode resolves it? Is there something I can do to stop it from happening? I would be most grateful for any help or advice! I have tried resetting disk permissions, Setting Extensions Permissions and Clearing Extension Cache using OSX86Tools but that seems to have no effect. I have both IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext and IOBluetoothFamily.kext installed. Scripty
I have the same problem and I use the same method as you to make it work. It used to work fine but I don't know what happened and how can I fix it permanently, besides buying a mac Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/177080-loss-of-bluetooth-resolved-by-updating-boot-caches-help/#findComment-1413288 Share on other sites

It used to work fine but I don't know what happened and how can I fix it permanently, besides buying a mac Hi Scripty, Unfortunately, I never did find a way of resolving the bluetooth issue with that particular build. I ended up re-installing using a different build. Unfortunately, it was a while ago now and I can't remember which one! I will see what I can dig out and pass on to you. It's very frustrating I know. I was this close to buying a mac mini (which I still want) but when you have a machine running pretty close to what you would get, the money doesn't seem to be worth it! Good Luck!
