spackleboy
Hey guys. I have a Dell xps gen1 laptop. Its a P4 3.4 1 gig of memory ati 9700 video card. I have tried to install via the patched 10.4.6 dvd. I get to where its loading the disc and it hangs. Looking at the messages i see it says "Waiting for root device". I have read some post here about that error and they say to change the hardrive to be primary disk or something. Well thats kinda hard to do on a laptop unless i am missing something. I also looked up on this site a list of compatable laptops with this version and one guy stated he had it running on the 8600 which is identitcal to the xps laptop gen1. Do you guys have any advice or tips for me that i might be missing? spackleboy
Actually i fixed it on my laptop. I burned that dvd 2 times however i used +r media. And i tried both dvds in 3 different hardware capable pcs including this xps laptop. So this time i booted back into windows on my laptop and burned the dvd from this system on a -R media. And this time i no longer get the "waiting for root device" I am not sure if other people that are getting this error are using -r media but its worth a try.
