Hi guys,

I tried Kalyway 10.5.2 and thanks to theStevo's PPF, I could get the installer to see my SATA drive but for some other reason, it's hanging once installed.

I've now tried iDeneb but it seems that that does not contain vt8237a support in the installer. And I don't see anything similar to the theStevo patch to get it into the installer. So how do I get the installer to see the SATA drive that I need to install OSX to? I have two different versions of the required AppleVIAATA.kext, at least one of which works, but I don't know how to insert it into the ISO.

If it was a post-install insertion that'd be fine as I have a linux install on the same machine that can read/write the HFS+ partition I've installed to. But the problem is the installer-ISO.

I note that the iDeneb ISO really is an ISO9660 filesystem unlike the Kalyway which has just two files visible and presumably an HFS+ partition hiding behind there somewhere on the disk. I can copy the contents of the iDeneb DVD to a new DVD with the AppleVIAATA.kext inserted into it, but I don't know how to make it bootable.

Actually, looking inside the iDeneb ISO, there is an appleviaatakext directory, but the actual driver it contains is a different size to the one I was using with Kalyway that worked. The working one is 73504 bytes and md5sum d56accafc334b2c54e11640418e1b95b while the one on the iDeneb ISO is 76028 bytes and md5sum c9ade8a4b7e53aa0252ed746c5e93d8c. I also note that in the info.plist files, the list of IOPCIPrimaryMatch values is quite different; the list in the iDeneb version is longer but it is missing many of the values from the other version.

So: do I need to change the info.plist file to add other PCI IDs? Do I need to change to the other AppleVIAATA.kext? In either case, how do I create a new bootable ISO file with the modifications?

Would it suffice to make a new ISO, dd across the first 512 bytes from the old one and hope for the best?

thanks...
