azanoncello
I figured I better post here since I was responding to someone in the wrong section. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1209921 I tried installing with iDeneb 1.5 but not long after booting it would stop. So I tried out iPC. I'm running: Dell Latitude D630 I have a problem where I installed with the same disc yesterday but today it gives me the kernel panic. All my hardware stayed the same and it is the exact same physical disk from the day before. I tried running "mach_970 -v -x -f" as per Le Dude suggestion on iPC with no luck. It would just return to the screen that asks to press f8 if you want to see options. I installed iPC yesterday and had most things working except my wireless card. I installed 2 kext files (IOPCCardFamily.kext, IOPCIFamily.kext) which was a bad idea because I couldn't boot anymore after that. I figured I would try reinstalling from the DVD however every time I try I get a kernel panic (ACPI: AcpiOsFree"@/VoodooKernel/ ...). I have since formatted the drive and put windows back on it (to make sure the drive was in the exact same condition as yesterday). What I don't understand is how can a DVD which didn't change and hardware which hasn't change be fine one day and not work the next? tessa17
So how do you fix it? I have tried mach_970 -v -x -f Edit I Found the answer you have to try a different boot kernal offered on the disc for example i use to be able to boot with above but now since my dell is acting funny i now am able to boot with toh -v and that did the trick or for some you can type mach_toh. Not sure if the way it is type is the same but it is worth a try. I would always suggest reading what is offered by the distros so you can boot. So far this is what i have found that worked on different distros mach_970(980 960 etc) anv -v and maybe mach_anv -v mach_vanilla mach_toh or toh -v mach_kernal(?) I may have some wrong but they are worth a try.It may also depend on the distro Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/176717-kernel-panic-acpi-acpiosfreevoodookernel-on-install/#findComment-1221419 Share on other sites
