bubbageek75
I have installed OS X x86 on my Shuttle SB83G5 XPC with great success. I booted from the patched DVD and installed directly to my 80 GB Maxtor SATA HD. I am using a D-link 10/100 ethernet card (Realtek 8139) because the onboard Marvell 10/100/1000 is not compatible. That is the only hardware I had to change. System Specs: Shuttle SB83G5 XPC Intel P4 541 EM64T with Hyperthreading - 3.2 GHz 1 GB Patriot DDR400 Memory 80 GB Maxtor SATA HD - OS X 80 GB Maxtor PATA HD - Windows XP Lite-On DVD R/RW Dual Layer Add-on D-Link 10/100 Ethernet (Realtek 8139 chipset) Onboard Intel GMA900 Graphics (Full Quartz Extreme and Core Graphics Acceleration) Intel 915G chipset Realtek ALC658 onboard audio onboard VIA VT6307 Firewire 400 onboard Marvell 88E8001 10/100/1000 (Doesn't Work) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1765-shuttle-sb83g5/ Share on other sites

nearvana
Congrats Bubbageek. Does your audio work? I have the same onboard chip (but totally different motherboard, etc.) and no sound at all. I've looked in the Audio help and it only seems to work for NVIDIA boards. bubbageek75
Congrats Bubbageek. Does your audio work? I have the same onboard chip (but totally different motherboard, etc.) and no sound at all. I've looked in the Audio help and it only seems to work for NVIDIA boards. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All you have to do to get the audio working is the following: Boot into OS X insert Darwin 8.0.1 install cd open a terminal window type the following: sudo passwd root enter password This will enable the root account su enter root password you just set "cp /Volumes/Darwin8_i386/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext /Volumes/YourHDName/System/Library/Extentions/AppleAC97Audio.kext" Exit Terminal App and reboot Audio should work at that point Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1765-shuttle-sb83g5/#findComment-12006 Share on other sites

Was it the Apple OS X x86 Developer Kit Install DVD Deadmoo? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I used the Marklar-Tiger.dmg DVD converted to an ISO using UltraISO and then patched with the following patch: Generic_OSx86_Install_DVD_Patcher_test3 created by bb and bender12 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1765-shuttle-sb83g5/#findComment-12007 Share on other sites
