Bit unusual, but I've got iAtkos v7 running here and I can't disable file sharing now I've enabled it - furthermore, the whole system seems to grind to a halt (very unusual for OS X) when I open or click anything within the Sharing prefpane under system preferences.

Everything else with the build seems great, but this puts a big spanner in the works as this system is supposed to be sharing several media drives to the home network ;) I need AFP and SMB sharing to run on it and had set it up exactly like my mac mini, which it is taking over from.

The Console isn't revealing much useful info, nothing seems to be being logged when these hangs occur.

Other symptoms include the system being able to connect to the other macs fine (all on 10.5.7) and access their shares, but no other machines being able to access the iAtkos system.

The other systems include a few windows machines, the mac mini and an MSI wind running retail. I was under the impression iAtkos was a largely unmolested retail build as well, hence all the chameleon malarkey, so what's up??

Specs:

CPU: Intel Q6600 2.4GHz

Mobo: MSI P35 Neo-F based w/ACPI bios patch, Realtek RTL8168 gigabit ethernet

2GB DDR2 667MHz

Ati Radeon x1950Pro 256MB

A billion hard disks

I'm having totally the same problem.

my other mbp can even do screen sharing with my system but just can't do file sharing even it is enable.

system is a

shuttle sx38p2

msi gt 8800 1g

2.33ghz

do you manage to solve yours?

I found something here

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...0.5.7/Portables

check the

HP dv6226us

it show something about URLmount

I haven't try that yet.

don't have a 10.5.6 with me

I tried fiddling with the URLmount, also tried re-making the symbolic link under /System/Library/Filesystems/ for afpfs/appleshare.

I found enabling Appleshare on all supporting devices brought a marginal improvement, in that at least all devices could then see each other.

I've also found DNS-related error messages in the console of the Mac mini which is dropping the connections:

Jul 28 13:09:17 Miniwoo mDNSResponder[16]: AppendDNSNameString: Illegal empty label in name "."

Jul 28 13:09:17 Miniwoo mDNSResponder[16]: RegisterSplitDNS: bad domain .

Intruiging?

hmm no idea about that.

But I've just gone thru alot of trouble to get everything working without actually solving the problem

just took a long way to get it working

I previously used ideneb, so i reinstall(fresh) with ideneb, and used iatkos 7 driver only

then install the combo update 10.5.7 from apple

now everything is working.

including file sharing feature.

Hmm, interesting... I've tried the move to retail - about the only distribution of OS X I've never had problems with. Works perfect on my MSI Wind, but still having the file sharing issues on the server, albeit the file sharing function can be turned on and off now.
