Hi Everyone

Just thought id share todays experience of getting my hackintosh working. My spec is as follows

Intel D865GCL Motherboard

Intel Pentium 4 2.40ghz CPU (SSE2 No SSE3)

1GB DDR RAM

Onboard Video

Onboard Audio

20gb IDE Maxtor Hard Drive

Quite an awkward system really , this is situated next to my electric piano and the whole point of it being there is for my composition , which i use Sibelius for.

I had countless install discs knocking around dust but i couldnt find one that suited my needs. Ubuntu linux 9.04 was fast and brilliant for internet browsing and email , but didnt support Sibelius. The same thing applied to Windows 2000 professional , extremely responsive but no Sibelius support.

I then tried xp pro , which of course Definately supports Sibelius , but ran a little too slow for my liking on the 2.4ghz P4. Application speed was average and it took over 3 minutes to boot!

So then i looked into Mac OsX , which supports sibelius and has extremely low system requirements compared to Xp.

I would have gone with leopard , but decided to go for Tiger , as my system spec was a lot better than the recommended Tiger requirements , but only just good enough for the Leopard requirements.

I downloaded a pre patched Kalyway 10.4.10 Intel SSE3 AMD SSE2 Patch from a forum.

Booted Straight off the dvd , ran into a few problems with partitioning but thats only because i checked the wrong option!

Custom Installation - After 3 Installation attempts , i decided to read every single bit of text through the installation and found that because i have an older CPU that supports only SSE2 I have to use the 10.4.4 LoginWindow.App Patch in the customization list

I also selected Intel Pro 100 Ethernet Network Drivers , as thats the built in LAN on my motherboard.

I unchecked the whole applications section.

Installation completed , computer restarted

And i got an Error! - But then realised the DVD was still in , i took it out and restarted and my machine carried on booting without a hitch.

Then i just typed all the settings in like date and time , region , keyboard setup , etc then there was my desktop - Finished!

Onboard Video is detected and works fine up to resolutions of 1024x768 (which is all i wanted anyway as im using an old monitor and thats almost its max resolution!)

Not tested audio yet as i need some speakers but it seems to be detected fine :P

Then did some customizing to my own personal needs eg , changing dock size and wallpaper etc

I had previously tested this image on a virtual machine , which took 1 minute 57 seconds to boot.

The native installed took 45 seconds , from pressing the power switch to loading safari!!!

Installed quite a few software updates , just done the 10.4.11 (Intel) upgradae which went flawlessly using the "Seamless Upgrade" procedure found in this thread

Thread Is Here

So im extremely pleased with my new hackintosh and would like to congratulate everyone at OSX 86 for making this possible!

Theres still a few issues to sort out (Like why none of my USB devices seem to be detected but my Mouse and Keyboard are) but overall im 10000% happy with my hackintosh.

Yeah , after reading about peoples experiences i was surprised that it only took 3 times lol :P

It was also suggested to me countless times that i would have to buy a video card and couldnt use intel integrated 865 chipset graphics , so you can imagine how surprised i was when it let me do 1024x768 out of the box!

Thats all i need anyway ;)

Did you try Leopard.

Please tell me.

My specs are
