skillet313 Posted July 22, 2009 Share Posted July 22, 2009 Hello everybody! OK, so i have this hp zd7160us... 3ghz p4, sse2...anyhoo, when i stick a distro(iatkos, kalyway) in it wont start. The disks are good. I used them on a couple other peecees. including mine. my pc failed to boot kinda like this, but i switched the jumper to cs on the hd and voila. but not on this laptop. fail. all i get is a blank screen and a glitching "operating system not found". i disabled all bootable volumes and devices except the optical drive. nope. i disconnected the hd itself to see if i could force the pc to read, but nope. I borrowed a real mac, made dmg images of iatkos and kalyway, and "restored the image" to a usb flash drive via disk utility. tried to startup pc with usb flash drive. failed with both images. and yes, this pc does support usb boot.
