ChrissehB Posted July 21, 2009 Share Posted July 21, 2009 Hey guys Right heres my sit. I've installed iAtkos 7 (the 10.5.7 one) and its all going great (I think). I have a gigabyte es2l motherboard and an intel core 2 quad q8200 cpu, 4gb ram, nvidia 9500gt graphics, urm don't know what else to put, a realtek wireless thing (which currently isn't working ). Here we go, so, I have the Voodoo something .7 kernal which i got from the isntall disk. I want to boot windows 7 into my osx86 using virtualization. But after reading up I've found that my cpu doesn't support virtualization and when I try I just get a kernel panic. (Using VMWare Fusion 2) Is there any way I can not get a kernel panic and use the virtualization on my PC? blkhockeypro19 Posted July 21, 2009 Share Posted July 21, 2009 I don't know for sure, but from experience, I'm 50% sure that as long as the guest is 32-bit, you can run it just fine. ChrissehB Posted July 21, 2009 Author Share Posted July 21, 2009 I;m trying to installa 32bit windows 7 but whenever i open vmware and it tries to start the machine its just a kernel panic. Is there a patched version of VMWare which doesn't do this? Also I can't install Parallels because it says my system doesn't have the correct stuff (virtualization). No patched versions available? (VERR_VMX_NO_VMX). Unknown error creating VM (VERR_VMX_NO_VMX)." Shame... Its just the CPU then =/ If I had known this before I bought it I would have bought a different one =/ Shame. If anyone has any idea to get virtualization on a none virtualization cpu pleeease tell me! Thanks, Chris You will be able to run VMWare and similar virtual OS machines but your main [host] OS will run slower for the time being while you are running the virtual machine. Thanks, Chris What is the kernel named as on the boot drive. If you read the Voodoo release notes it can cause a KP if not called mach_kernel. Also if you CPU does not have VT-x extension you will only be able to run 32-bit guest OS. ChrissehB Posted July 23, 2009 Author Share Posted July 23, 2009 Okay I reinstalled OS X but this time I used 10.5.6 Retail with Boot 132 instead of iAtkos. Parallels still wont install, VirtualBox is giving the same error but VMWare is working!
