Sheppy1 Posted July 18, 2009 Share Posted July 18, 2009 Ok so when I used to own a Macbook I made a backup of the HD to an external HD using CarbonCopy, I would now like to boot into this backup on my PC, could someone tell me if this is possible? Lemieux Posted July 19, 2009 Share Posted July 19, 2009 I think it is possible. there are 2 main obstacles you will have. 1) unless your laptop has a intel chipset and a core 2 duo processor, you will not be able to boot from the vanilla(apple) kernel. 2) Carbon Copy Cloner will not copy over the boot loader, so booting will present an issue. solutions to problem 1 will be booting from a patched osx installer cd on your laptop with the external HD connected, an coping over a different kernel. solution to problen 2 would be making a grub boot floppy/CD and chainloading into osx. you will probably neet to boot into safe mode using -x and then find/load kext's to work with your hardware.
