gus7000
Hi there! I’m rather newie to Mac, though old timer to PC, and thanks to all the wise advice I’ve got form this forum I’ve had my Hackintosh up and running fine for several months. Nevertheless, a couple of days ago it just didn’t boot one day (the day before the system seemed to have closed correctly), and I’ve no longer got it to boot. I’ve tried those boot parameters -v, -x, -F, platform=X86PC, but I cannot get it to complete the boot sequence. The -x parameter cause the system to halt after saying: Mac OS version: Not yet set Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.0: Sun Mar 2 00:11:08 SCT 2008; made by ToH:xnu-1228/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 The -F parameter cause the system to enter a loop after reporting several crashes, saying: (date & time) (computer-name) kextd[94]: kernel freed its link data; trying on-disk kernel file (/match_kernel) (date & time) (computer-name) WindowServer[73] bootstrap_look_ip failed: Unknow service name (date & time) (computer-name) WindowServer[73] bootstrap_look_ip failed: Unknow service name … (this last line repeated over and over for an hour until I gave up and turned the computer off) The platform=X86PC parameter gave similar results but more verbosely and slower. This time I’m quite frustrated and with no idea where to start from, and sadly my searches lead me nowhere. One further note, I have two different physical hard disks, disk 0 for Windows (NTFS) and disk 1 (HSF+) for OS X, when I booted Win XP after all that stuff, it run the disk checking utility and corrected one entry in an index. Booting Windows again no error appeared. I repeated all the tries twice, and both times the Windows check ran, as if the attempts on the OS X disk somehow damaged the Windows disk. Well, stop bothering. Maybe me question is too foolish (please be indulgent) but I found nothing helping to solve this problem so far. I’ll very much appreciate any clue or idea on how to settle the matter and recover my Mac. My configuration: MotherBoard Intel Desktop Board DX38BT Chipset Intel X38 Express Intel Core 2 QUAD Q9300 2.50GHZ Mem 3GB ddr 1333Mhz Kingston KVR1333D3N9 2 HD Western Digital 250Gb 7200, SATA 2 Video Nvidia NX8600GT 512MB Dual boot Win XP Pro SP3, Kalyway Leopard 10.5.2 Thank you very much in advance. Marclh
Boot in -x and take a picture of your screen after it freezes on the kernel panic.
