Confused, Lost, and I Need Help

Hello everyone. I installed Mac OS X 10.5 on my old Compaq v6000t about a year ago with absolutely no issues. I built a new desktop around six months ago, and was ready to install Mac OS X again....when I tried installing it, I got about halfway through the install and some problem came up. I decided I'd put it on the back burner for a long time, and I've just now got around to it.

 

I formatted my second hard drive, and popped in Kalyway's distro. I got the waiting for root device error, and troubleshooted it. Still had the problem. Then I tried a Leo4All distro, same thing. I tried a second Leo4All distro, and same thing. I'm not sure what the problem is. When I first tried installing it six months ago, I didn't have the waiting for root device thing; it just went into the installer...so I'm really confused.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775

 

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775

 

Hard Drives: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drives x2

RAM: 4gb

 

GPU: Nvidia GeForce 7300 SE

 

(if anyone is wondering the original video card was a lot more powerful, this was a gaming machine...but the fan shot and burned out the card so I bought that cheap replacement)
