Hi. I just installed safari 4 on my windows xp pc and love it. I want to put it on my iDeneb 10.5.6

it says i need 10.5.7

i changed my Systemversion.plist to tell the os i am 10.5.7

but it now says i need security update 2009-001

i want to update to 10.5.7 and downloaded iDeneb.Combo.Upgrade.KIT.1057.dmg

but am afraid to load it, i see horror stories in these post about system not working

a previous update from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 went bad, i fixed it but the system only boots if i have my install disk in my DVD drive at boot. It is my second osx86 system, this on i installed using the iDeneb 10.5.6 install no the upgrade.

so long story short i am afraid too

i have a P5K asus and intel core 2 duo 3Ghz

ATI HD2400 graphics

if i download the security update 2009-001 from apple, will i be ok to install it

i like the new firefox 3.5 but really want safari 4

please help me.

Another annoyance in this 10.5.6. It is the only one. WHen i am in a preference window in my pro tools settings, my system usage goes to the max on one of the cores and the system becomes very sluggish. Once i click a button in the menu, it takes a few seconds before the button shows it is pressed (lag)

after i get back to the program out of the dialog box, the lag is gone.

it does it in other menus too, in safari 3 and a few other programs. When a dialog box opens.

anyone have any ideas on that.

thanx a5hr1th

when you updated from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7, did you have to do the dont steal my kernel script thing. I used it when i went from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6

and i didn't install the vanilla kernel when i put osx86 10.5.6 on, do i just add it when the customize installer comes up and i go to 10.5.7.

how do i tell if i am on the vanilla kernel. I think it could be what i installed. If it is the default if i selected nothing.

if i just stay in 10.5.6 and change my Systemversion.plist to say i am 10.5.7 and run the software update for the 2009-001. I should be able to install safari 4. I thought i read that here as a trick to install safari 4, but i can't find that post again.

and you are saying the vanilla kernel will tell the os update that i am running a retail mac. So i can just run the os update or download the update and install it manually. And do i have to do the dont steal my kernel think for the update installation. I dont see a kernel in the update when i look at the package contents, so that is likely a stupid question.

revision. OSX86 tool show my kernel is vanilla 9.6.0 kernel
