crystallizetoreality
It was SOO hard trying to install Leopard on my P5KC because boot 132 doesnt boot the leopard retail disc. I spent so long and with small bits of help from all over the place, I finally managed to set up Leopard. The following is what I did to get Leopard working. In recounting, I tried to be as detailed as possible. If more detail is needed, do inform me! An important prerequisite is having 2 hard disks. You may think that OSInstall.mpkg can be used to install to another partition on the same physical disk, but no, that does NOT work. 1. Prepare Kalyway Installer a. Obtain the Kalyway 10.5.2 iso. b. Obtain the JMicron IDE DVD ppf patch for Kalyway 10.5.2. search for jmicron-ide-dvd-ppf-patch-for-kalyway-1052 c. Patch the Kalyway 10.5.2 iso d. Burn the Kalyway 10.5.2 patched iso to cd. 2. Prepare Boot-132 CD a. Download BOOT-KABYL-BUMBY.iso [google the file name to download] b. Burn to CD 3. Download installers needed after install [version numbers are most updated at time of writing] Keep these installers on a CD [we shall refer to this as InsCD], otherwise on a thumbdrive. Use of a CD is preferred because new OS X installs may have problems accessing thumbdrives. a. Chameleon 2 “Chameleon-2.0-r431.pkg” b. Update package to 10.5.7: MacOSXUpd10.5.7.dmg c. OSX86Tools d. P5K-Family_10.5.7.pkg from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=50165 [this can be used on leopard versions < 10.5.7] e. Graphics Card Driver/Injector [i used NVinstaller from http://nvinstaller.com/] 4. Prepare Parted Magic Disc a. Obtain Parted Magic from http://partedmagic.com/ b. Burn to CD 5. Using the Parted Magic CD, partition first hard disk into two: One NTFS for Windows XP, and leave the other unformatted for Kalyway. This first hard disk should be the master drive, and the other drive being slave. 6. Install Kalyway to the second partition, formatting it as Mac OS X Extended (Journaled), with the Partition Map Scheme being MBR. 7. Using Kalyway install, open Disk Utility and use it to format the second hard disk as Mac OS X Extended (Journaled), with the Partition Map Scheme being GPT. 8. Insert the Mac OS X Retail DVD and use the Kalyway Install to read the DVD. 9. Show hidden files in OS X. Follow instructions at http://lifehacker.com/software/command-lin...nder-188892.php 10. On the DVD, look in /System/Installation/Packages for OSInstall.mpkg. Run this file. Choose to install on the second hard disk. 11. After install is complete, reboot with Windows XP Install CD in the drive. 12. Install Windows XP as per normal. 13. After Windows has been installed, boot Kalyway with Boot-132 CD. When asked which HD to boot, enter 80, since Kalyway was installed on the first hard disk. The Boot-132 will give 2 options, either Kalyway or Windows. Choose Kalyway. 14. Copy the installers needed from InsCD into the Kalyway install. a. Run the Chameleon installer on the first hard disk [The one with windows on it] b. Run the P5K-Family_10.5.7.pkg on the Leopard install on the second hard disk. 15. Restart and boot from the master drive. If Chameleon was installed correctly, you should be greeted with a nice graphic bootloader, giving you three options: Windows, Kalyway and Leopard. 16. Boot into Leopard, access the Kalyway install and install graphics card drivers. 17. Update Leopard using the combo updater to prove that you have a apple-updateable install!
