I have a problem with my HD4850. I have CI and QE working and I can change resolution as long as it is under 1680x1050 (at least the ones supported by my screen (Dell 2209WA)). It is like the system crashes when the resolutionen has changed to 1680x1050 cause it won't go back after 15 seconds or when I hit enter to revert. Me screen remains black and says "Change to resolution 1680x1050 @ 60Hz" though that's exactly what I'm trying to do.

Thanks

So I discovered that SwitchResX was causing some trouble. The program forced 1680x1050 to run at a lower freq. than 60Hz. I have now uninstalled SwitchResX but then 1680x1050 disappeared in Display under System Preferences. Is there any way to get it back without installing SwitchResX ?

So you already tried the custom settings in SwitchresX ? this is what i did:

1) Add a new custom resolution

2) Check the box "use simplified settings" and select GTF

3) Horizontal pixels type 1680 Vertical lines type 1050

4) Scan rate hz type 60

5) press OK save

6) reboot

Yeah, I have 1680x1050 working now - What I did wrong the first time was that I just entered to height and width and did not adjust the Hz. But thanks on the tip with "use simplified settings". I tried adjusting most of the variables instead :-P
