Ok, I am ready to build my first Hackintosh. I have been reading so much on all of the different forums that I am going blind.

Here's my setup:

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R

Intel E8500 (3.16GHz/1333MHz/6MB)

ASUS EN 9400GT HDMI 512MB

LG DVD dual layer writer

Western Digital 1TB Black

Corsair 2GB Ram * 3

1. What is the best install method? I'm looking for something that is not too difficult. I've read lots of different methods on the UD3R mobo, but can't decide.

2. Is 6 GB needed? I will use this for video editing and basic web design.

Cheers

1. Based on your system specs, you should be able to use a boot132 disc to install your retail OSX DVD and then create a Chameleon USB disk to use as a bootloader so you can have a completely vanilla system. Lots of documentation in this forum about your motherboard so you can get the kexts necessary to include in your extras/extensions folder.

2. Of course you don't need 6gb on your ddr3 system, but with only one or two, you're not taking advantage or using ddr3 and for what you are trying to do, it will be less efficient. I do video editing for a living, and I can tell you that having 6 or 12gb's will make a difference in rendering etc. Not so important for basic web design.
