Safari not working

have a advent 8117 with the following specs

Problem im getting is iv installed the wireless RT73 drivers and a seperate programm comes up and reconises i have a wireless device and even finds my router and connects with that programm but when i go to safari it says i am not connected to the internet? Is there settings i need to configure? I dont even know where to start with ethernet will sort that after. When i go to network configuration on the side it comes up with ethernet usb and is green. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
