Question: I had iDeneb 10.5.6 running fine on my AMD system. I had the onboard audio on and the ALC 888 drivers installed. Sound was working fine.

The machine had a Soundblaster PCI X-gamer in it.

I removed it since it wasn't doing any good.

Now, on start, the machine locks up. In -v mode the lockup occurs at:

Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid</string></dict>

Any options besides <1> reinstalling the soundblaster and hoping or <2> reinstalling (which I really don't want to do?

Ok...so I tried a variety of flags to get the machine to reboot off the internal hard drive, gave up, and hooked up the USB peripherals to try a new install. Booted off the DVD and got to the initial "choose your language screen", but this time my mouse doesn't work (keyboard works).

So I rebooted one more time from the internal hard drive and (miracle of miracles) it started right up all the way to desktop.

But again, with a working keyboard without a working mouse.

Both the keyboard and mouse are PS/2 peripherals, and I have them attached to a USB port through a PS/2 -> USB dongle. Both worked fine before I pulled the SB.

I think the moral of the story is: once you have a functioning hackintosh, just use it. Change nothing.

Any recommendations on how to get that mouse working again?
