I have come to the conclusion that it is rather a matter of chance which works and which does not.

I have 2 Sonix webcams:

Vendor id 0x0c45 Sonix

product id 0x613c works very well with macam, and skype

product id 0x6270 does not work, skype tells me the video is set up but it does not work, macam says usb communication problem.

These are both dirt cheap cams got at the computer fair in London, just a few UKP each.

I will try to get another next week and see what happens.

err dude sonix is listed as working on macam

mine is not

i have the documentation and all but macam people just wont reply

so i am wondering whether its even worth to wait for their reply

coz i have a uvc standard cam which works well in os x

but i dont want to carry a separate cam around as i prefer the cam in my notebook

which is the {censored} m560x.....i mailed the company and they just refused to release documentation for the chip

i am wondering whether their is someway to port the linux driver of this cam

or write a whole new driver (tht would be a pain).......i discovered an example driver in macam source code
