xMacleodx
Hello Forum people! I just wanted to post on how I got Ideneb running on my setup as I couldnt find much help with the specific setup I have and after 2 weeks of trial and error I hope can help others. So here goes..... My setup is : MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte 8VM800PMD-775 CPU: P4 3.2g Prescot RAM: 1gb Generic GPU: AGP x1650 256mb SOUND: Onboard DVD: Pioneer Sata DVD/RW HDD: Seagate Barracuda 80gb PATA KB/MOUSE: Both USB (Made sure USB KB/Mouse support was on in BIOS) Step 1 Get a copy of the Ideneb 10.5.6 ISO and burn it to DVD. Step 2 Boot getting installer to run off DVD. Step 3 Setup your hard drive under Utilities. Using the Erase option on the drive you want to use, formatting it to Journaled HFS. Step 4 Close Disk Utilities, your drive should now be visable and able to be chosen. Click continue once you have clicked on the drive. Step 5 Should get a screen with a picture of a DVD and a Hard disk. Click Customize. Step 6 In the list of KEXTs (Drivers), I chose Auido - AC97 Audio Chipset - VIA/SIS/MARVEL/ULI Kernal - Voodoo 9.5.0 And under applications I chose OSx86Tools, Xbench, and BetterZip After you have made those choices click next, making sure you have only chosen 1 of each driver type as more than one can cause a kernal panic and you have to restart and reinstall all over again. Step 7 After the installer is finished and restarted, remove the DVD. Once the boot message comes up, press a key to give you the prompt "Boot:" once you are at the promt type "-v -f" without the quotes which is "verbose mode" and "forces rebuilding of extensions cache". Im not sure why this is needed but it seems to work so I use it. Step 8 If all has gone well you should be at a window asking for you location which means so far so good, answer the questions (dont need to do the registration pages can just click next and it will say you are missing information but thats ok). Step 9 Once you are at the desktop and everything seems to be working ok, restart the system and wait for it to boot back up. CONGRATULATIONS YOU NOW HAVE A MAC OS (FOR PREVIEWING PURPOSES ONLY, OF COURSE!) Now to update to 10.5.7 Step 1 Download iDeneb.Combo.Upgrade.KIT.1057.dmg from this forum or from a torrent site. Step 2 Place the .dmg file on your desktop and double click it and it will create a image called "Ideneb Combo Upgrade Kit 10.5.7". Step 3 Once it creates the image open it and you should see a few files in there double click iDeneb.Tool.rev1.mpkg it will start a installer and choose to install voodoo 9.5.0, click continue and allow it to finish its install, you will have to restart after its done. (This step I am not to sure about I think you can skip it as you have to do it again later but up to you if you want to try skipping it) Step 4 Once your back at the desktop open the image again (step 2) and double click on Ideneb.MacOSx86UpdCombo10.5.7.pkg which will start the update installer follow the prompts and allow it to finish and restart the system. Step 5 This is pretty much the same as step 7 in the inital install only differance being when you are at the Boot prompt this time you need to type "voodoo -v -f". Step 6 You should end up back at the desktop once it has finished its boot sequence and you should have a updated MAC OSx86 10.5.7 Intel Desktop. Some Issues I have had so far. Cannot get my x1650 to work using AGPGart just causes a crash and will not boot still trying to resolve this. I started getting kernal panics when mounting .dmg files after updating to 10.5.7, but found a fix to it on this forum http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=150871 explains how to fix it, which worked like a charm. So in closing this wall of text I hope I help someone else with my setup instructions you might need to change these to suit yourself but atleast you have a guide line to work off. And would like to finally note that all of this is for preview purposes and if in the end you like what you see, at least go out and pay for a licensed copy of leopard.
