taryn
I managed to get osx installed using the ipc 10.5.6 install. Things went fairly well. I had to use the ps2 keyboard fix and I had to download the ralink 2860 wireless driver separately. But now I'm moving onto the sound. I tried the AlC888 kext from the install, and that did not work. The output devices appear in the sound settings, and the keyboard keys work to change the volume, but nothing is coming out of the built in speakers or headphone jack. I tried the alc888 from the osx86 tools and the same thing happens. I also tried using the apple hda patcher with a codec dump obtained from using an ubuntu live disc. I'm at a loss. Unfortunately, if I can't get sound, I'll be switching to ubuntu... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/173161-acer-aspire-4736z/ Share on other sites
taryn
ok, went ahead with setting up the system. installed ilife 09. imovie won't run because the graphics (intel gma4500M) are not compatible with quartz extreme. sigh. as iMovie was my big reason for doing the osx86, I think I'll switch back to ubuntu...
