I need help installing to my HP dv8040us laptop. I currently am trying to install with ideneb 10.5.6.

When i boot from the DVD, it says to push f8 to start install or -v. No matter what i select, nothing happens (a couple words flash extremly fast with some error, its not even enough time for me to read.) and then goes back to the same push f8 to start or -v. I have tried both with no sucess. I know it can be installed on my laptop since i pulled the bellow instructions from the wiki page. Can someone please help me out. Can someone explain if it doesnt boot from the DVD, how i can follow the intrsuctions bellow. I am quite confused by them. My bios is HP F.54. Thank you.

HP PAVILION DV8000 17"

It's the AMD Turion 64 ML32 type + the ATI x200 (200M) Chipset/Graphic/Audio

Release

XxX 10.5.6 Universal

HW Tools to make it easy

  • Another PC with an updated BIOS
  • A IDE/USB 2,5 HD Box
  • An external DVD/USB Player

Even if there are tricks to install it directly from the Internal DVD or an external one (waiting 10 second before pressing the right device on "Boot Select" at bios) is faster if you use another PC (Darwin Friendly) to prepare your hard disk in the IDE/USB box (to avoid jumper issues/freezes on ATA disks)

Config:

  • AMD Turion 64 ML 32
  • Chipset ATI x200
  • SouthBridge SB400
  • Radeon Xpress 200M (x200) - 128MB
  • HDD Fujitsu MHV 2080H 80 GB
  • HDD (Additional) Seagate ST 9100822A 100 GB
  • DVD ATAPI Hitachi HL-DT-ST
  • WiFi/BT: Broadcom
  • Ethernet
  • AC97 Integrated
  • Synaptics Trackpad

How to Install (Choose the following pkgs/kexts)

  • Chipset ATI SB450 PATA
  • Chipset ATIATA
  • Video ATI Callisto Beta 003
  • Audio AC97ATIIXP
  • Wireless Network Broadcom Package

Everything works but:

  • Synaptics "Tap-to-click" and other advanced Apple features (I use a USB Mouse)
  • Quartz Extreme on ATI Radeon (no way, actually)
  • Some minor keyboard issues (comas instead of periods on numeric pad...I use the Italian layout)

Hope to update it with good news .

10.5.7 Update

here’s my kombat recipe to get the 10.5.7 update working properly on an AMD Turion ML 32 (HP Pavilion DV8000).

  • Got the Ideneb 10.5.7 Update Pkg somewhere google will reveal
  • Launched the Install and restarted at final. Had to hard reset, anyway, cause the restart freezed.
  • At boot I typed “voodoo” before Darwin loading (pressed F8 if no boot config file is set).
  • To avoid Kernel Panic while mounting DMGs, I replaced the new seatbelt.kext with one compatible with voodoo 9.5.0. I took advantage of Lanceomni kindness (Supermod at Infinite Mac) that provided the seatbelt.kext here http://www.infinitemac.com/f5/updated-dmg-...versions-t1992/. .
