Hi all

After going through about 5 separate installs of OSX86 on my Dell M1330, I've settled on the new iAtkos V7 10.5.7 install. Aside from having no working ethernet or wifi drivers, everything seems to run smoothly - video, audio, battery, card reader, bluetooth, etc - and all the software I've tried has installed and works fine. Except Final Cut Pro Studio 2.

The installer runs through fine. And when I open the FCS2 application, everything seems to be going well until after the part where it checks for the firewire device and then quits, putting up the error that the application has had an unexpected error. I've tried a couple of different video kexts (NVinject, Darwin) and have used OSX86 Tools to enable Quartz Extreme but with no luck.

So I put it to you wise ladies and gentlemen to help me solve this issue. What else can I try? What other info do I need to put here to help fix this?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I was just wondering what options did you use to setup your installation under customize. Mine was alright all except a few minor glitch with the graphics.. when I try to scroll down, the only top or bottom part moves as if the image got stuck on the middle, I have to use pgdown or pgup in order to view the rest of a web page. Do you have this similar problem, if not, will you be so kind to list the options that you chose during the installation.

My wireless worked once iAtkos was finish installing, I didn't have to set up anything, i just brought up the connections window and I could see my wireless network. I had used the "broadcom BCM 43xx" under the Network=>Wireless section.

Hope that helps with the network problem.

thanks..

I'm trying to get my M1330 working with iAtkos V7 today too. I'm totally new to the OSx86 world.

I did manage to get it installed following this guide - http://mrinaltech.wordpress.com/category/mac-os-x/

However the built-in keyboard and track pad do not work now that I'm in OSX. Also I tried going back into the disk upon boot up to see if I could somehow fix this and I get a kernel panic.

I'm wondering if I selected some incorrect options (some of the options in the guide I followed appear to have been updated in the V7 release so I had to make an educated guess)

nazcatati your keyboard and track pad work? perhaps we would collaborate and get both of our M1330's rockin' with this...

lol.. I used the same guide here and yes.. I am also new to OSx86 world..... cool... to get your keyboard and trackpad working... when installing and after clicking on "customize" you need to select Apple PS/2 driver which is under Drivers => PS/2 mouse/keyboard

I have been working on this for a while and emailing everyone that I can from other forums as well... so far everything is working fine except for my glitch when it comes to using the arrow keys...

let me know if that fix it...

@nazcatati I'm also having the problem with the scrolling. The video drivers mentioned in the guide are not listed during the install so I didn't select any of them.

I'm redoing the install right now to include the keyboard/track pad drivers.

I'm assuming once the install is done I might need to track down better video drivers...

yeah.. I had tried some other ones, I was just guessing as well.. I am doing the same, I will post something if I come across anything in regards to the video.

well the good news is that I don't have the glitch anymore when it comes to scrolling... I used installed the NVinject 0.2.1

However... now I have everything in negative.. It looks nice for now.. hey.. one step closer... lol...

Got to love google... problem fixed... found the answer at the following website

http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread47043.html#

Basically.... just go to System Preference => Universal Access and make sure to select "Black on White" radio button...

and basically that is it... unless there is any other problems... let me know how your installation goes....

I'm a noob to this and couldn't be arsed trying to get it installing on my laptop correctly. I put my hard drive into another computer to do the install to get past the installation crashing on the M1330. I choose the kexts my M1330 needs and once the install had finished and it asked to restart, I took the drive out of the desktop and popped it into the M1330. It booted fine and has been a quite usable for the last couple of months.

I'm now using NVDarwin 1.2.5 to get my laptop screen working nicely. No glitches with QE working ok and software like Final Cut working great. I can't seem to get After Effects working amd the external video port soesn't work and the system becomes unresponsive once I plug in another monitor into the VGA out and choose detect displays.

If anyone can shed light onto how to get VGA out working with the NVidia GeForce 8400M GS working, I would love to hear from you. If the answer is EFI strings, can someone explain how I get those working or point me to a post which explains it in noob speak?

Thanks

I know that this post is not regarding this, but did you ever get your wifi working. I just finished an install of iAtkos v7 on my m1330 and have wifi (dell 1395) working. If you would like the kext, I can attempt to post it.

Yeah... I had no problem with the wireless, but that was under the "customize" when I was installing the system using iAtkos v7, I don't know how to setup it up once it is installed.. but if you want to retry a fresh install.. just go under customize.. and under the network.. just check the wireless option... and make sure you check the box that has "Broadcom BCM 43xx".

That basically did it for me from the very start... it pick up my wireless network like a charm and didn't have to do anything else from there....

let me know if that got it working for you... or for anything else... I have the same model...
