Hi, I need to get Leopard 10.5.7 running on this Thinkpad T41. The main details are below.

I've had 10.5.3 running there using Kaliway but screwed up the system. I wonder if I can get to 10.5.7 faster nowadays.

Would you recommend a path for such a system?

Thanks.

Hi,

After around 15 trials I finally got T41 working with OSX 10.5.6

I've tried, iAtkos-5i, iPC_OSX_10.5.6 and XxX_10.5.6_Leo_Install

This is what I used:

- iPC 10.5.6 with the next selections:

-- Base system

-- 9.0.4 StageXNU Universal Kernel

-- Intel ICHx SATA Drivers

-- Intel Pro 100/VE

-- Atheros AR5007EG

-- Patches USB Drivers

-- ACPI Fix

-- CPUS=1 Core fix

-- IOPCMCIAFamily

Booted with -v -f and works "fine" apparently. Obviously there will be some issues but for example USB, BT and such are fine from scrath, I had some problems with 10.5.3 with those....

Boots very quick and seems quite stable.

- In any case I think there's some problems with hybernate, sleeps and all that

- Also I am currently using D-Link AirPlus DWL-G650 wireless PCI card but is not detected, the "Link" led blinks but I can't get it activated. I got it working with 10.5.2 but I don't remember what I had to do, tried to search but might take time to find again the right instructions. Does anyone has some hints so I can get it working? (I'm thinking to buy some USB unit but I should investigate what will be compatible and what I can find in the shops around....)

- And then, before I screw up the system again. What would be the safest way to upgrade to 10.5.7 based on the selections I made. I have search the net/forum and found some hints but I would appreciate if there is a clear process. For example I've read about the famous Netkas safe upgrade process, which one is that? Any help?

Thanks.

Ok, so now I'm running OSX 10.5.7 :-)

Basically these are the instructions I followed to upgrade from 10.5.6:

  1. cp -R /System/Library/Extensions/IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext /Extra
  2. cp -R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleDecrypt.kext /Extra
  3. cp -R /System/Library/Extensions/Dont\ Steal\ Mac\ OS\ X.kext /Extra
  4. cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel.bak
  5. Install 10.5.7 via Apple Software Update
  6. reboot when it asks to
  7. F8 and for boot options: mach_kernel.bak -v -f
  8. When it is booted to the desktop, go ahead and mv /mach_kernel.bak /mach_kernel
  9. Use OSx86 Tools to repair permissions, extensions, etc (check all 8 options)

Taken from Netkas site: http://netkas.org/?p=100

I had to get IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext from the net and install it with OSX tools.

Two reboots and then booted fine.

Now I have to get the wireless card working...

Cheers.
