lkchbl
Hi guys, here is my system Core i7 975 extreme @ 4Ghz Asus Rampage ii Extreme 3 x 1600mhz DDR3 Vanilla 10.5.7 with vanilla 9.7.0 kernel (just added system.kext to try fix slowness) Chameleon 2.0 PROBLEM 1 Anyway, its happy at the moment, running. But its slow. It is oc'd to just nigh on 4Ghz, and the ram is running at 1600mhz. It can only manage roughly 8500 Geekbench (this is after the 7500 before i added the system.kext from adamsac's post somewhere). Any ideas what is causing this?? I should be up around the 13,000 mark at least... My previous system was Q6600 oc'd to 3.6ghz and i was managing 8500's.. PROBLEM 2 Not only that, but the system will not boot with 3 sticks of ram. I get stuck at the IOAPIC thingy.. PROBLEM 3 Also the About this Mac info is wrong - reporting the wrong frequency the processor is running at, and not even tell me the speed of the ram - instead its 0Hz! Im so pleased that i've actually got the f'er running now.. but i would really like to fix these capers! /luke Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172559-i7-975-issues-slow-only-2-sticks-ram-allowed-etc/ Share on other sites

lkchbl
Well i fixed Problem 1 - had to use Chameleon 2 instead, and put it on the EFI partition. Problem 3 is Kind of fixed, although i think its a band-aid solution. Modifying the SMBIOS.plist. But Problem 2 - i just dont get it. No matter what i do, it will not boot with 3 sticks of ram. It just gets stuck at IOAPIC.. as soon as i take that 3rd stick out, its fine.. Anyone any ideas? anyone? SatMan
I you haven't done so, run memtest. If you get errors, find the correct settings in the BIOS for your MB + RAM combo and run memtest again.
