rfk
Hey there. My setup is as follows: CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 RAM: 4GB DDR2-800 Board: MSI P35 Neo2-FR (with the modified BIOS v1.8 by Kabyl) Graphics: ATI HD 4870 HDD: Maxtor 60GB (P-ATA Master) DVD: LG DVD-RAM (P-ATA Slave) The S-ATA controller (servicing two other drives) is disabled. During my first try I was using iDeneb 10.5.6 but I couldn't even get into the installer, the verbose messages were indicating "I/O errors". So I tried iDeneb 10.5.5 which was much better. The installer worked like a charm, I setup the harddisk partitioning and the custom features as suggested in this thread (StageXNU kernel, Intel ICHx chipset, SMBIOS-800, ...). After the successful installation I tried booting MacOSX which didn't work: I am getting the famous error message "Still waiting for root device". Reinstalling with an additional JMicronATA driver didn't help (is it ok to have multiple "chipset" drivers installed?). It is somehow strange because whenever I boot the system with "-x -v" the harddisk gets accessed loudly during initial loading but as soon as the "framebuffer" screen appears the error from above returns. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172507-ideneb-1055-on-pata-drive/ Share on other sites
rfk
Alright, I fixed that problem by installing the VIA-SB driver additionally instead of JMicronATA. My system is now correctly booting. Now I need to get my HD 4870 working... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172507-ideneb-1055-on-pata-drive/#findComment-1187105 Share on other sites
rfk
Is there a way to disable the S-ATA controllers? Like in the device manager under windows? I am not too familiar with Mac OS X yet...
