zO fO draziW
Alright, I have a DFI LP GF9400T2RS mobo, q8300 qyad-core processor, and 4GB of OCZ RAM, all that works fine, but, NO SOUND!! Im trying to get my alc885 to work, to no avail. Ive tried the HDA patches, HDEnable, ALCinject, AzaliaAudio, dumps, etc etc., and nothing works! In system profiler, it says I have an Intel HD audio, and gives a an incorrect address and the right vendor ID, however, no sound and no recognition. I also noticed I have the ALC885 chip, as well as an nVidia sound chip, ven_id 10DE Device 0007. Is that gonna be the controller of the alc885 (10EC 0885)? Anyone with any help or ideas would greatly be appreciated, as this is really the only hangup I have with this!! the install was from iATKOS 5i/vanilla 10.5.5 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172350-how-am-i-gonna-get-the-sound-to-work/ Share on other sites
Azimutz
Hi.. Did you gave a try to VoodooHDA? It's not perfect but, it's working for many devices.. If not, check it out here: voodoohda - Google Code or Voodooprojects - Index Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172350-how-am-i-gonna-get-the-sound-to-work/#findComment-1185987 Share on other sites
zO fO draziW
Hi.. Did you gave a try to VoodooHDA? It's not perfect but, it's working for many devices..If not, check it out here: voodoohda - Google Code or Voodooprojects - Index Just tried it and for the first time i actually got sound from the speakers - wasnt good sound (completely garbled and unintelliegable) but it was sound! I found if you take the volume slider and raise and lower the volume fast enough, you can hear the song youre trying to hear! Now, any suggestions on how i may be able to clean up the signal?? Azimutz
I'd really love to help but, i'm out of ideas.. i'm very noob in computer audio and it seems you tryed everything. I've tryed all of them in the past months and never got it perfect but, i've been leaving audio for last because i always got good audio out (main and headphones), with any of the solutions available and i already had a USB audio interface. Never got mic to work, for instance. I think your best shot is VoodooHDA or Legacy AppleHDA.. if none of them work out of the box, i guess they need proper fixing/patching to work on your machine. Some codecs work pretty fine with some chipsets/patched drivers and not at all with others.. it's tricky ground. I recently managed to put my ATI graphics working but, it causes problems with USB audio, not with onboard audio (PCI).. go figure?! Anyway, keep an eye on VoodooHDA.. it's the most recent project and the most promising, i think. And keep trying Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/172350-how-am-i-gonna-get-the-sound-to-work/#findComment-1187916 Share on other sites

I got bored and d/l'ed iPC 10.5.6, installed it a few times, until i got it down just right. So now seeing as im using an nVidia chipset, iPC has the drivers for that, and when i last installed it and installed the alc885 drivers, it didnt work. but then I got brave and decided to break out UInstaller, and download the DFI LANPARTY P35 T2RS motherboard package and install (I have the LANPARTY JR GF9400 T2RS board, close enough I guess!), and upon restart, I had....... SOUND! Not quite sure what it installed (might have been legacy kexts), but nonetheless its good sound!! Azimutz
Hey, glad you made it Just make sure you find what made it work. That's the most important thing.. knowing what makes your hardware work. If you have space, create a test partition and start testing.. See ya..
