Ok, so I have an MSI Wind U100 (no DVD drive), which is supposed to work great with OSx86. I also have a desktop running Windows XP and the desktop has an internal DVD drive. I have the MSIWindosx86.iso file and now I need help installing it.

The tools I have at my disposal that may be useful are:

256MB USB flash drive

2GB SD Memory Card

Ethernet cable

There are three methods I'm thinking might work, but I'm not sure how I would go about doing it.

So, method 1:

Make a virtual OSx86 installation DVD on a small partition of the Wind's main HDD. I know how to make the partition using GParted on my USB flash drive, but I don't know how to make it boot.

Method 2 would probably be the most time consuming, so I'd prefer not to use it unless as a last resort - that would be going from vmware to native. I believe Sabr has a guide on here somewhere telling how to do that.

Method 3 is just an idea I had that very likely wouldn't work: installing using the DVD drive in my desktop through an ethernet connection.

So, does anyone have any thoughts? How would I make method 1 work? I'm pretty sure it's possible, but I just can't find the right software to get the job done.

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Okay, so I'm trying to do it the VMWare way using Sabr's guide. So I'm trying to boot up from the MSIWindosx86 image that I mounted in VMware. I started up the machine and got an error message saying that the CPU had been disabled by the guest OS and to shut down the virtual machine. Here's where it happened:

So basically it just stopped working at that point and if I reboot it does the same thing.

Here's my VMWare config file if that'll help:

.encoding = "windows-1252"
config.version = "8"
virtualHW.version = "4"
scsi0.present = "TRUE"

ide0:0.redo = ""

tools.syncTime = "FALSE"

floppy0.present = "FALSE"

paevm = "TRUE"

Please help me out here as I have absolutely no clue what to do. I googled the error message and while I found people who had the issue I didn't find any fixes so your help would be greatly appreciated.
