Hi everyone,

I have what should be an easy question to answer. I want to upgrade to the Voodoo 9.6.0 from 9.5.0 to fix my clock issues and I was wondering what kind of problems I may run into? Obviously I will need to change the System.kext and the Seatbelt.kext but are there any other things that might get screwy after the upgrade?

Thanks,

Brandon

If you're going to use the AnV version, your hackintosh might turn into a MacBook Pro if you don't read the docs/release thread first and take appropriate steps to prevent it. His kernel requires a mac model flag in com.apple.boot.plist and if it's not set, congratulations, you now have a Mac Book Pro.

Also, if you don't like to see references to /Users/Andy in your system logs, there's also a non-AnV version floating around, I don't know where you can find it but it's out there.

Other than that there shouldn't be any problems.

That's the new official Voodoo Kernel alpha. It doesn't turn your hackintosh into a laptop.

You can read more here: http://code.google.com/p/xnu-dev/

As long as you have an Intel CPU you should be fine - it doesn't work on AMDs yet.

About the AnV kernel:

My hackintosh is a desktop PC. I would hate to see it ID'd as a MacBook Pro and have to deal with battery icons and laptop powermanagement settings and whatever other changes it would inflict on the OS.

While it's true that there are no existing mac models that match my PC I still prefer to have it ID'd as a desktop mac like an iMac or a MacPro.
