harbourcoat Posted May 11, 2006 Share Posted May 11, 2006 right I am sure alot of people have given up the ghost on installing Mac OSX cause of 'administrative' problems. Below i will list some of the problems that are normally encountered and their solutions. but before I do if your hardware is not in the The Hardware compatibility list then you might be asking for trouble. System hangs with an prohibited icon over the apple logo but the process icon is still spinning! This is a good one now you have two options either turn of the pc and place the dvd drive as a master on the secondary IDE channel or press f8 then type -v after you reboot with the DVD(this will give you more detail about the error message which will most likely be waiting for root) and then carry out the first step lol The system hangs on the finish up part and thus never reboots... I was kicking myself over this one!! The installation can not reboot your pc cause it is not Apple hardware. wait until the HDD light goes out and then press the reset button. After installation the system has a HFS+ error You did not wait for the HDD to go out! or your partition that you created is not good enough. Try either again. After installation the system hangs with the line bsd root: diskxsy You are nearly there..what you need to do is boot the computer from the DVD and press f8 for the command line options and type rd=diskxsy please dont type diskxsy change the x and the y for the numbers you got from your error message btw x is the physical disk number and y is the slice(partition) on the disk my internet is not working! You need some drivers boyo Drivers pages My sound is not working Ditto The graphics are not right Ditto Non of the above works The Hardware compatibility list Your hardware does not meet the requirements or you have half a brain.... sorry please try and believe it is the first one.
