I'm trying to install iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 Final on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop.

I can get past the loading screen that has the Apple logo.

After that, the default background is displayed along with the "spinning wheel of death."

That goes away, and I see the default cursor, but the disc stops loading and nothing happens. I can move the cursor around and toggle the capslock key but nothing else.

Has anyone seen this before?

Boot with -v to see error messages.

Is there a way to dump these error messages to a log? There are a lot, and I'm not sure what to look out for.

I should also mention that I had OSx86 running on this laptop via iATKOS, but I need 10.5.7 for iPhone 3.0 development (I tried upgrading iATKOS but that just caused a kernel panic, even after switching out the appropriate seatbelt.kext)

...as I was writing this, I found out that iATKOS just released a version for 10.5.7 two days ago. That is SO cool.

Well, while this is downloading, do you have any suggestions? I really need to submit an app, since the approval process can take anywhere from 1 week to 2 months.

Thanks!

1. Make sure the power cable is plugged into your laptop before install!

2. Make sure the correct chipset is selected in thre IPC "Customise" section.

3. Dont install any drivers and see if it works, drivers can be installed after install.

4. if you have a intel chipset dont use any kernel, this will install VANILLA kernel by default.

5. If you dont have a intel chipset use the VOODOO kernel! and seatbelt.kext!!!!!

Make sure you only select the things you need from the customise setup section!! ahything else will make the machine panic! do a defauly setup 1st! NO drivers! see if it works!

Other than that, you may need to change a few settings in your BIOS, if there is any settings, laptop BIOS's are pretty lame!

hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately, I cannot even get to the installation's welcome screen and the Apple menubar never loads.

After the Apple loading screen, the default wallpaper loads and the disc stops loading.

Could it be a bad disc? I've tried burning with MagicISO several times at 4x and 2x but who knows. I also made sure the checksum matches their website. Is there an easy way to post all of the error messages?

Thanks again!

DO A FRESH INSTALL AND FOLLOW MY GUIDE! SEE HAPPENS!

GOOD LUCK! AND REPORT BACK!

He can't "SEE HAPPENS!" because he can't get to the desktop when booting the install DVD.

Try plugging in an external monitor. I think the installer is running but appearing on the external display port. This is not unusual for laptops.

Type Inspiron 1525 in the search box, there's lots of tips and guides for you to follow.
