h8red013
So I'm running an AMD x2 4400, Asus A8n5x board, and have had no luck with anything but Leo4All 1.4, which doesn't run great, but at least installs. I've tried iPC (always get "install failed), iDeneb (freezes during install with "6 minutes remaining"), and I think one other release. I've tried a couple of different downloads of each of them, and the only one where I've actually gotten things running was Leo4All, which still gets kernal panic, but at least comes up. I'd love to get 10.5.6 on there so I could play around with writing some code for the iPhone platform, but I think I need it a little more stable. I've tried using the Leo4All 1.4, and running the iDeneb patch to 10.5.6, but after it installs, the reset freezes up, and when I manually reset the system, it'll just get into a reset loop and I have to reinstall eveything again. I also saw posts that there was a 10.5.5 patch, but the only link I ever see is on file dropper, and the link is no longer valid. I haven't been real successful finding a guide that tells me what I should be trying for the different kernals and what not. My understanding is that I need to be using the voodoo 9.5, but I have yet to get anything to not give me the "install failed" screen when it's done doing it's thing. If anyone wouldn't mind in directing me to either a better AMD guide than I've found so far, or know of any magical settings that I'm not hitting, I'd be very greatful. Thanks a bunch. h8red013
Welp, as it usually ends up, after you ask the question, you end up finding something youself. Luckily, it was just randomness, but I was able to get it to work, so I'll share the settings in hopes someone else in my position can benefit from it... AMD x2 4400 processor Asus A8n5x mobo NVidia geforce 8800GT Using iPC 10.5.6 (which, btw, seems to be much, much more stable so far from my previous and very limited experience with Leo4All) VooDoo 9.5.0 Kernal CPU=1 NVDarwin Intel ICHx + the apple NForce package, I forget the name, but I think it's the 4th or 5th from the top didn't install any audio (this time around) ForceDeth V for network DSDT - Patch DSDT (the first one) Also, there is another one of the special patches, but man, it has slipped my mind right now. I want to say shoestring, but I know that's not right. it had to do with mounting DMG's I think, but it's a strange name. I forgot to write that one down unfortunately. Anyhow, since this is a reply to myself, I don't NEED the answer, but hopefully this helps someone else out. After this "magical" combination, things seem to be pretty stable so far, and I'm up and going in an updated OSX.
