I'm trying to follow the retail install guide on a core 2 quad with an intel DG45ID motheboard. I've tried the Kabyl Boot-132 iso available on this guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=113288

I've also tried the generic.iso boot image. Both do the exact same thing. I boot the boot-132 disc, swap in the retail dvd, and hit enter. it asks for the hex boot device which defaults to "fe" and i hit enter again and it just goes back to the first boot prompt. It doesn't even try to access the dvd.

What's wrong ? Is FE the wrong device id or something ? If so, how can I find out the proper one. It's a SATA dvd drive if that makes any difference.

Hi, what you have to do is this:

Download the boot 132 iso from here:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=141154

Is the DG35EC.iso, is the post made by slipttees (thank you man, really, thanks!!!)

After you burn it, restart with this disc on the optical drive:

1) It will appear a message about it can not find boot.plist file, don't worry is normal and after that it will appear Darwin and some options, at this moment just push ENTER.

2) Here it will appear options about 80 and 81 hard drive selection. Replace the boot132 disc for your Leopard OSX Retail disc, now WAIT FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS (this is important). So right now you will see the 80 and 81 options (like before) and in your optical drive is has to be the Leopard Retail and the led of your optical drive is has to be off (this mean that the optical drive should not be reading the Leopard dvd).

3) Now Push Enter and a message about starting from the cd and some seconds appears, now push F8 so you can stop the time. Now type -v (verbose mode) and now push Enter. At this point it will enter to the Leopard installation.

So that's it.

Everything I told you is in the slipttees guide and follow this guide also is great to:
