Hello I am absolutely delighted that I've had success booting, installing, and running iDeneb 1.4 (Leo 10.5.5)

However I need to at least get my sound working before I can happily be using Logic Pro...

Here's what I did...

I reformatted my hard drive and split it into two partitions (one for Vista Ultimate 32bit and one for Mac OS X)...

I installed Vista first, and re-installed my drivers that I backed up before the format everything works as it should in vista...

Then I restarted my computer and booted up from the iDeneb 1.4 disk, there are certain things that had errors and such (like my usb ports aren't working in mac os x) but it booted up fine...

I erased the second partition and formated as mac os x (journaled)...

Installed it on that partition...

Now when I want to boot Vista I press a key on the Darwin prompt and select the windows partition to boot from... for mac I just select the mac partition...

At first when I was booting up mac os x, I was stuck in the "Do you already own a mac" loop and couldn't get past it... I followed the translated directions here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69878, set my root password and told mac that I already did the initial setup...

After that when booting up I was able to login and be in mac os x!! :(

Here's where my trouble is and I'm not sure what I need to do to get things working, which is why I'm asking for help...

First of all I originally wanted to not have to reformat my drive and install onto my 8GB usb flash drive, but my usb ports do not work in mac, so I couldn't do it that way...

booting with -v (verbose output) says these errors:

USBF: 16.991 EHCI controller unable to take control from BIOS

USBF: 16.991 AppleUSBEHCI[0x2c56000]: unable to obtain ownership: 0xe00002be

USBF: 16.991 AppleUSBEHCI[0x2c56000]::UIMInitialize - Error occurred (0xe00002be)

USBF: 16.993 AppleUSBEHCI[0x2c56000]: UIMFinalize 0 0 0x2c98700

USBF: 16.993 AppleUSBEHCI: unable to initialize UIM

So if anyone knows what I can do to get my usb ports working, I would very much appreciate it...

Next my sound is very important to me as I'm planning on trying out Logic Studio...

My Computer is a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5919

What do I need exactly to get my sound working... In windows my sound card is called "High Definition Audio Device" which isn't really helping me out...

My wifi is also not working I have a Atheros AR50007EG built into my laptop....

Does someone with experience getting hardware to work with mac know what I need to do to at least get my sound working?

Thanks so much!

Wow I think everyone must hate my name or something... (Whats so wrong with Steve?)

No one even looks at nor responds to my threads... Do I really have to figure out everything myself?

Just an update: I was able to get my sound working by installing VoodooHDA found here: http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/ using the "kext helper" app.

Since I got my audio working, I tried installing Logic Studio! However, the installer wont let me install it because it says the recommended amount of VRAM is 64M and it says that I have 0M VRAM!!! WTF

Does that mean I have to find a driver(.kext) for my video card? Isn't there anyway I can skip that and just install the damn thing?

The performance of applications is fine by me! It would be a bit faster with hardware acceleration but I'm satisfied how it is now if I could just Logic to install and run...

On windows I would try using something like "Cheat Engine" to attach to the process and find the code that does the check and displays the message box, and modify the assembly so it jumps right over it...

Isn't there something like that on mac?

Hey,

I have the same computer. I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 without customization and sound and usb worked phine, video seemed bad compared to my macbook it seemed lifeless and there werent any options to up the resolution which showed 1024x768 which isnt the native res. Wifi is a pain in the ass, there is a thread about the Atheros 5007eg and it seems easier if its possible to swithch the card out for something that works. I am downloading iDeneb and iPC hopefully somthings will change with those. I also would like to see the battery status someday. I am really new at this and feel a little lost.

Let me know how your progress is coming along.
