I can only boot up in safe mode

Hi!

 

First of all thanks to you all for spending so much time on helping others to get OSX86 running!

 

Here's my problem:

I can only boot up in safe mode (-x) if I try without it hangs during the gray bootup screen.

 

I think, I've deleted all the ATI files (cause that should make normal mode work, right?).

Sure, running safe mode still makes it work, but it prevents the sound from loading, and, uhm, that's {censored}!

 

Any suggestions of what I might have missed?

 

And another thing - the search function doesn't seem to work? Has this something to do with running in safe mode?

Try booting with -v, and without the -x, to see where it's hanging.

 

Also remove all of the NVDA* and GeForce* extensions.

Removed the files you talked about.

 

Tried booting with -v;

 

It seems to be some graphics failure.

That looks right. That's what you should get right before the pretty blue screen and the GUI kicks in.

Have you tried the platform=acpi or platform=x86pc options?

Hmm.. I have..

 

But if you think, I'll try experiencing some more with them. Normally I run with the parameters set to

 

-x platform=osx86pc

 

but I'll try some morecombinations.

It still stops the same place.

 

Both with platform=osx86pc and acpi. But I found out, that it runs best with osx86pc

 

But still hangs at

VGA: vram [d8000000:08000000]

nevermind, I didn't get the ati extensions. It works fine now.

same problem... removed all geforce, ati, and nvidia drivers... still doesn't boot except for -x.

 

any other ideas?

Mine just did it! Dunno what I did... I just pressed the power button, looked away, and when I looked back, it was past the "press a key" process, so I just gave it a shot. And it loaded!

 

Still no sound though

 

Could it possibly be the fact that I didn't use the osx86pc/acpi settings?

 

I'll try and reboot and try some other options... Now I'm off to make the sound work!

It seemes to work now, whether I use platform=... or not... I think removing the drivers did the trick... Thanks for helping me, guys

It's still not working to me... Same vram error unless I load with -x modificator.

 

I have a Samsung x05 notebook with an Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller.

 

Any ideas?

i got mine working by removing the appleintel830.kext and appleintelintegratedgraphics.kext

 

that should fix it for anyone using a notebook w/intel graphics.
