franknew Posted June 16, 2009 Share Posted June 16, 2009 The installation finished, gave me the green checkmark, then asked me to restart the computer. I did, then the bootloader starter (I think) then a grey screen with the apple logo was there for 5 minutes or so, and after that, the iDeneb 'start the installation' screen came up again and is asking me to install the whole thing again. I guess I should jsut use iAtkos v5i to make it easier for me to follow your instructions? If you did... then sorry probably sure a faulty weird instal But for me iAtkos 5i (10.5.5) worked perfectly fine, your case may be different.. abhi93 Posted June 17, 2009 Share Posted June 17, 2009 It's most probably the DVD in the drive. It must have been booting off the iDeneb install disc. I read online last night that installing OSx86 also requires you to flash the BIOS before attempting the install. Is this true? I've heard of people getting a 'code: purple' after flashing the BIOS and that doesn't sound too easy to fix... I don't know where you've read about that one but I've installed OSx86 on more than 5 different computers and I haven't flashed the BIOS on any of them. I think it depends on the motherboard, i.e, if its too old or unsupported. The computer I am installing OSx86 on is an HP Pavillion Elite m9250f. It has two disks, so windows on the first, osx on the second. Now I am just trying to figure out how to dual boot it. I installed OS X on a separate hard drive. I used the bootloader built into Windows. Copied the chain0 file from /usr/standalone/i386/chain0 to C:\chain0 Then added C:\chain0="Mac OS X" To my Windows bootloader. It works flawlessly. When I turn the computer on, I get a menu for Windows Mac OS X I can choose either, and once I select and press enter, it automatically boots into the desired OS. No other settings required. I might try this, but I don't know if this will work for vista. abhi93 Posted June 19, 2009 Share Posted June 19, 2009 You can also try Chameleon 2.0 RC1, it has a graphical/text-based (selectable) bootloader which lists the partitions on your computer so that you can select one to boot. It's also customisable; themes, own boot graphics, etc. Just head over to the chameleon website and download the package installer. Another method is to use EasyBCD in windows. Both work flawlessly, but Chameleon has more customisation abilities.
