install apps from one machine to another without cloning the hd possible?

so my friend wants me to work on his computers. he has a old one with lots of apps he wants to keep like office and others

they dont have most if any of the install disks anymore

 

he wants to eventually wipe this pc and donate it but he wants his new pc with bigger hd to have everything

there both running xp from what i hear

is there anyway i can install these apps to this new machine copying the necessary files and reg values into this new machine?

are there any apps that can help this process?

you would imagine it is possible because if uninstall programs know where all files are located there is a record and there should be a way to export those and import them somewhere else
